Bourbon Fundraiser to Aid Victims of Hurricane Harvey
Like many Americans, those of us at Garrison Brothers Distillery in Hye, Texas watched with concern on August 25th, 2017 as Hurricane Harvey slammed into our beautiful Texas coast, wreaking havoc and tragedy upon the homes, businesses, and lives of our friends and family there. Probably just like yours, our business has friends, family and business partners up and down the coast. We too saw many of the buildings — such as Spanky’s Liquors in Port Aransas — wiped out.
But good bourbon never sleeps. And good bourbon has a way of dulling pain and helping people smile when they are down. On that fateful day, we just happened to be making bourbon whiskey. Nine barrels were filled with the Nectar of the Gods at Garrison Brothers on August 25, 2017. We want to put that bourbon to work for the good people of the Gulf Coast.
On August 25, 2021, Garrison Brothers Distillery will introduce a limited release 4-year-old, 100 proof bourbon whiskey called Hurricane Tough. This will be the bourbon whiskey that filled those nine new oak barrels on August 25, 2017. The barrels have already been set aside in a revered spot in one of our aging barns. When we empty those barrels in 2021, after Angel’s Share losses, we anticipate we’ll yield a little more than one thousand 375 ml bottles. While only 1,000 bottles are guaranteed. The barrels might yield 1,100 or 1,200 or 1,300 bottles. We just won’t know for certain until we dump the bourbon from the barrels in 2021.

You will need to make a donation of $100 or more to Team Rubicon by going to this website www.teamrubiconusa.org. Team Rubicon is a 501c3 non-profit organization directly benefitting families and individuals who lost everything to Hurricane Harvey. One hundred percent of the donations made to Team Rubicon will go directly to the victims of Hurricane Harvey through Team Rubicon’s relief efforts. No contribution is too big or too small. Our goal is to raise $150,000. Even if your commitment level may not correspond to a bottle, you are still helping us reach our goal. And we thank you for that. The first 1,000 donors who contribute $100 or more at the website will receive an email or phone call from us in 2022 instructing them that their bottle of Garrison Brothers Hurricane Tough Straight Bourbon is waiting for them at the gift shop at our distillery in Hye. Bear in mind, the 1,000 bottles the barrels will yield is just a guess. Angels’ Share and evaporation are hard to predict. If you are donor number 1,100 you still might get a bottle. We just won’t know for certain for another 4 years.
Sadly, due to the state’s antiquated and corrupt liquor laws, we cannot ship you your bottle and you must present your driver’s license at the gift shop verifying you are over 21 years of age to pick up your bottle. We cannot give your bottle to a proxy. This will also give us a chance to shake your hand and say thank you.
At Garrison Brothers, we take great pride in showing the world that good bourbon can accomplish great things. If one thousand of you do this, we will raise more than $100,000 for the good people of the Gulf Coast.
