I am proud to nominate my roommate and close friend, Ambrose. Ambrose and I have been friends for many years. We met in college through a mutual friend, formed a friend group where we’ve shared countless memories, and built what I know will be a lifelong friendship. Since graduation, we’ve been roommates for three years, sharing life’s ups and downs, milestones, challenges, and everyday moments, and witnessing each other grow through every phase. From stepping into adulthood to starting our careers and chasing our goals, Ambrose has always put others first. He chose a path of service, stepping up to help his community in moments of crisis, often at personal sacrifice. He embodies strength, resilience, and a genuine desire to help others. When I first met Ambrose, he was working as an EMT in Austin. While many of us were navigating the streets and discovering our independence, Ambrose was saving lives and making a real difference in his community. Over the years, I’ve watched him grow into his role as a Firefighter Advanced EMT, continually pushing himself to learn more, earn advanced certifications, and become the best he possibly can be. His grit, dedication, and commitment to service go far beyond the basics; he truly strives to make a positive impact in every way possible. At a relatively young age, Ambrose has already proven himself to be a hero to his community. Even closer to home, Ambrose has been a steadfast friend, supporting and helping me through some of my darker and harder times. He has truly been a savior when I needed him most, and I know he will always be there for me and for anyone else who needs a helping hand. I am grateful every day for his friendship and inspired by his unwavering commitment to service, both in his career and in his life. He shows up not for recognition or praise, but because it’s who he is. Ambrose is a community hero in every sense, someone who shows up, sacrifices, and lifts others up, and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this recognition and praise.
