Madelyn currently teaches Physics in a magnet high school in Denver, CO. She previously taught AP Physics at Westlake H.S. in Austin, TX. Dr. Percy received her PhD in Geology at UNC Chapel Hill. She has dedicated her life to teaching under privileged kids so that they get the opportunity to achieve a college experience. Madelyn speaks fluent Spanish and is able to communicate complex science to kids who have learned (or not) English as a second language. As an active mentor in the Colorado Minds Matter organization, Madelyn has helped numerous under privileged students achieve full-ride scholarships to prestigious universities. She is a co-author of a Physics curriculum that has been adopted by multiple school districts across the nation. Last year, Madelyn won the Colorado Association of Science Teachers award for her work developing curricula teaching about air pollution. As an undergraduate student at UT Austin, she was an interpreter for a UT Geology program called GeoForce. She would interpret the teachings of UT Austin faculty into language that was more readily understandable to the high school students in GeoForce. Madelyn has made a huge difference in the lives of many students, and she enjoys relaxing after a hard day with a nice glass of Garrison’s.
