Since 1995, Mike Lucero has been involved with the profession of firefighting. First as an explorer then various positions as a pay call firefighter and service center SCBA certified repair specialist. Now Mike serves the city of Pasadena as a firefighter paramedic. Mike is a husband and father to two daughters. He is a mentor to younger firefighters and is working on advancing up the chain of command. There were many evenings when we would go out around Southern California for a night of dancing at a club and instead we would get stopped to work a vehicle accident until actual medics and personnel could get there. In 2003 Mike represented the Orange County fire authority in the St Patrick’s Day parade in New York City. We were able to hand out items from non-profit organizations in memory of the victims of 9/11. We got to visit firehouses and exchange patches, shirts and commemorative wristbands. In 2012, his coworkers in Tucson fire department transferred there paid time off to Mike so he could spend his grandfather’s final days in California with him. It says something special about a person when the entirety of his department is willing to give their own time so he can be with family. Mike is a great husband, a great father, great friend, a great son, and a great brother.
