Things To Know About Touring Our Distillery.
Can I bring beer, wine or liquor?
Unfortunately, no, we can’t allow any beer or wine on the premises due to TABC regulations. However, you’re more than welcome to enjoy Garrison Brothers cocktails and neat pours at The Whiskey Shack.
Is there an area where we can smoke?
Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the ranch. Way too dangerous! If you light up, we will physically escort you from the property. Not only is the Texas Hill Country prone to brush fires but our ranch barns and buildings contain thousands of gallons of flammable alcohol. It is just not worth the risk.
Are kids allowed at the distillery?
Kids are welcome on our property but we are a working ranch so we ask that you keep a close eye on them!
Are dogs allowed at the distillery?
We are dog-friendly for friendly dogs, so as long as your pup is well-behaved and on a leash, they are more than welcome!
If it’s raining, do you still have tours?
Tours are rain or shine!
Can I bring you samples of distilled spirits that I make at home?
Please don’t. We’d love to try your concoctions. But making distilled spirits at home is a felony. Bringing them to our place is highly illegal, since we’ve got a federal and state permit.
How long do tours last?
Tours last 75 to 90 minutes. Remember, 68 acres is a lot of ground to cover, and the tour length often depends on who is giving the tour.
How much are tours?
Tours are $10 per person, $20 on Saturdays, and free if you show up on a horse.
How do I pay?
Tours and merchandise are cash or credit card.
May I take pictures or video?
Pictures are fine. Video pisses us off. Nothing more embarrassing than to be caught scratching yourself on YouTube.
May I ask questions during the tour?
If you don’t there may be something wrong with you.
Do you offer tours and events for Larger Groups or Private Parties?
Yes! Please email group.events@garrisonbros.com at least 30 days in advance to arrange your visit. Include your preferred date and the number of guests, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your group.
Do you have a gift shop?
Some have called it that. The gift shop is open Tuesday–Thursday 10 AM–4 PM and Friday–Saturday 10 AM–6 PM, and you can shop online at store.garrisonbros.com.
Do you have restrooms?
Yes, we have restrooms available for both men and women. We kindly ask everyone to be considerate and leave the facilities tidy for the next guest.
Do I need reservations to stop by and enjoy some bourbon?
Reservations are your best bet if you’re planning on a tour, but they’re not needed if you’d just like to sit and sip some bourbon in the sunshine. Come on by.

What is Garrison Brothers?
Garrison Brothers is the first legal whiskey distillery in Texas. Dan and Nancy Garrison founded it in 2006 on a ranch in Hye, in the Texas Hill Country. We fired up the still in 2008 and filled our first bottles in 2010.
Who owns Garrison Brothers?
Garrison Brothers is owned by its co-founders, Dan and Nancy Garrison, along with a handful of friends and family. Dan and Nancy founded it in 2006 on their ranch in Hye, Texas.
What makes Garrison Brothers a Texas bourbon?
Everything happens on our ranch in Hye. We mill, cook, distill, barrel, age and bottle every drop ourselves, grain to glass, and nothing is sourced. The bourbon ages in new American white oak through hot Texas summers, which drive it deep into the wood.
What is in the mash bill?
Our bourbon is wheated: 74% corn, 15% wheat and 11% malted barley, proofed with Texas Hill Country rainwater.
How old is Garrison Brothers bourbon?
Our flagship Small Batch is aged at least four years and bottled at 94 proof. Single Barrel and Bottled in Bond are aged six years, Sonora seven, Laguna Madre and our Ranch Reserve sherry-cask finishes eight, and Balmorhea ten. See them all on Our Babies.
What is Cowboy Bourbon?
Cowboy Bourbon is our annual release from Dan and Master Distiller Donnis Todd’s favorite barrels, aged at least six years and bottled uncut and unfiltered at cask strength. The 2026 release is 141.0 proof.
Where can I buy Garrison Brothers bourbon?
Garrison Brothers is sold in all 50 states. Find a store near you on our Find It page, order online at garrisonbourbon.com, or pick up a bottle when you visit the distillery.
How many awards has Garrison Brothers won?
More than 800, including Bourbon Distillery of the Year at the Melbourne International Spirits Competition three years running (2021, 2022 and 2023). See them on our Awards page.
Where is the distillery?
1827 Hye-Albert Rd, Hye, TX 78635, in the Texas Hill Country between Johnson City and Fredericksburg. We’re open Tuesday–Thursday 10 AM–4 PM and Friday–Saturday 10 AM–6 PM, closed Sunday and Monday.
