Bob Paulsson

U.S. Navy Veteran
I take great pleasure in nominating Bob Paulsson as a Garrison Brothers “Everyday Hero”. Bob is no ordinary hero however, he is a larger-than-life community presence representing Veterans, First Responders, and Educators alike. He has gone above and beyond by investing significant personal funds in building his truck; “Leona K-9” so that he and his truck can be visual reminders of the sacrifices it takes to keep our communities and Nation safe. Leona is emblazoned with images of our military, first responders, and service/working dogs so there is no doubt what it stands for. What many communities across our great Nation have lost is pride and patriotism. That is not a problem in Northwest Indiana in large part due to Bob’s steadfast, contagious American Spirit and his tireless efforts to ensure that all whom he encounters understand what it means to be free BECAUSE here in America we are defended and protected by our community’s best and bravest. He has suffered some physical setbacks over the years but through his courage and tenacious grit he has remained present at every local and state event he can be honoring those who serve us all, raising awareness and charitable funds simply by his uplifting community engagement and strong presence. He and Leona are larger than life for one purpose only; to tirelessly give back to those who have given so much. Beyond that, Bob is a Veteran himself honorably serving in The United States Navy’s “silent service”. Bob continues to serve locally as he volunteers at church as a trained, armed security guard, keeping parishioners safe so they can worship in peace. Also, Bob can be found always lending a neighborly hand to anyone in need. As a personal example, I own a glass blowing studio and Bob is our go-to anytime we need help whether it is volunteering his time, his truck for crowd control at our events, or showing up in the dead of night to monitor our furnaces when we are away. Bob embodies all that is good about this great Nation and those who built it. I know of no better example to represent America, Garrison Brothers, Boot Campaign, and Northwest Indiana during our Nation’s 250th anniversary. Select Bob Paulsson! Cheers!
