Tara Gray

Development Director at Candlelight Ranch
For more than two decades, Tara Gray has helped shape the heart and trajectory of Candlelight Ranch, turning personal tragedy into transformative impact across Central Texas. With over 26 years of nonprofit leadership experience, Tara has devoted her career to building community through purpose-driven fundraising, strategic partnerships, and mission expansion. As Development Director, she has been instrumental in broadening access to nature-based, therapeutic programming for children with disabilities, youth in foster care, military families, and those navigating trauma. Her leadership has helped serve thousands of children and families, strengthening both infrastructure and opportunity so that every child, regardless of circumstance, can experience dignity, belonging, and healing in the outdoors. In 2006, following the loss of her daughter, Reese, Tara helped champion the creation of one of the first wheelchair-accessible treehouses in Central Texas, named in Reese’s honor. What could have remained a story of grief instead became a legacy of inclusion a lasting symbol that adversity can be transformed into access, and heartbreak into hope. Tara’s work reflects a deep belief that strong communities are built when generosity meets action. Through resilience, vision, and unwavering compassion, she has helped ensure that Candlelight Ranch is not simply a place children visit but a place where they discover confidence, connection, and the possibility of brighter futures. Her legacy is rooted in service, strengthened by perseverance, and defined by impact creating pathways that will continue to serve generations to come. I will forever admire her bravery and effectiveness.
