Garrison Brothers Distillery Lands Five American Craft Spirits Associations Awards.

Garrison Brothers Distillery ain’t the only thing Dan Garrison has founded. Back in 2013, he helped form the American Craft Spirits Association – a non-profit group representing the U.S. craft spirits industry. The ACSA is the only non-profit association for distillers.

Winning medals, year after year, from expert panels of judges amidst steep competition certainly feels good. But the most rewarding part for Dan has been watching all of the small businesses grow and succeed over the years.

“I have watched very young neophytes become successful professionals and leaders. I’ve seen craftsmen, literally former hobbyist woodworkers, grow into cooperages with international sales. I have also learned perspective from my peers. Thanks to guys like Tom Mooney, Maggie Campbell, Phil Pritchard, Ralph Erenzo, PT Wood, Steve Johnson, Colin Keegan, Tito Beveridge and Paul Hletko, I have learned that there are VERY good people in this industry, that you must keep an open mind, and that — you may not believe it — but some of the crazy rules that govern the marketing, sale and production of distilled spirits are there for a good reason.”

This year, from a pool of nearly 1,000 entrants, Garrison Brothers Distillery hauled in 5 craft spirits awards:

  • Gold Medal: Garrison Brothers Single Barrel Bourbon
  • Silver Medal: Garrison Brothers Distillery 2016 Small Batch Bourbon
  • Silver Medal: Garrison Brothers Distillery Balmorhea Bourbon
  • Bronze Medal: Garrison Brothers Distillery Estacado
  • Bronze Medal: Garrison Brothers Distillery Cowboy Bourbon

Here’s to the finest, y’all. Salud!

There is a sound the Hill Country makes before dawn, a low hush that rolls across the pasture and slips through the oak trees like it is checking to see who is awake. You can stand outside the stillhouse and hear it. You can feel it, too, if you stand still long enough. It is […]

There’s a certain kind of treasure you only find in Texas. It isn’t always something you can hold in your hands. Sometimes it’s a place. Sometimes it’s a memory. Sometimes it’s a bottle of bourbon that carries a whole stretch of this state inside it. Over the years, we’ve made a lot of whiskey out […]
