About the Rick-House Ruckus

A spiced, stirred riff on the bourbon Old Fashioned. Small Batch's 94-proof Texas Hill Country backbone carries the apricot and allspice, and the amaro keeps it bittersweet. It drinks big and gets loud, which is exactly the point. Built for cold nights and good company.

Questions, answered

What bourbon works best in a Rick-House Ruckus?

We build it on Garrison Brothers Small Batch Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey. At 94 proof it has the backbone to stand up to the amaro and allspice dram.

Is the Rick-House Ruckus an Old Fashioned?

It's built like one: stirred, served over a big cube and finished with orange peel. Apricot liqueur, allspice dram and amaro take the place of sugar.

Can I batch it for a party?

Yes. One 750 ml bottle of Small Batch makes about 12 drinks. Combine the bottle with 6¼ oz each of apricot liqueur, allspice dram and amaro, plus about 1 oz orange bitters. Add 9 oz cold water, chill well, and pour about 4 oz per glass over a large cube. Garnish each glass to order.
