About the Old Fashioned Sloe-Cookin’ with HoneyDew
The honey-forward take on our Sloe-Cookin' Old Fashioned. Garrison Brothers HoneyDew, bourbon infused with Texas wildflower honey, rounds out elderflower liqueur and sloe gin, while cardamom bitters and a touch of turbinado keep it warm and spiced. Stirred and served over a big cube.
How is this different from the original Old Fashioned Sloe-Cookin'?
It swaps Small Batch for HoneyDew. HoneyDew is 80 proof and infused with Texas wildflower honey, so the drink comes out softer and rounder.
What is sloe gin?
A gin-based liqueur flavored with sloe berries, a tart wild plum. It adds a jammy berry note to the drink.
Can I batch it for a party?
Yes. One 750 ml bottle of HoneyDew makes about 12 drinks. Combine the bottle with 3¼ oz each of elderflower liqueur and sloe gin, 1½ oz turbinado syrup, about ¾ oz aromatic bitters and a scant ½ oz cardamom bitters. Add 7 oz cold water, chill, and pour about 3¼ oz per glass over a large cube.
